Originally announced for PlayStation 4Â at last year’s Tokyo Game Show, Gundam Versus isn’t just the first time that this game is coming to home console, this particular Gundam series being the preserve of arcade machines until now, it’s also one of the first times that Gundam games have come to the West. An American release was previously confirmed, but now Bandai Namco have stated the Gundam Versus is set for an autumn 2017 release in Europe as well.
The main battle mode is playable both offline and online, with both two-versus-two or three-versus-three team battles. Each Mobile Suit has its own specific weapon systems to learn, which can be enhanced with two different Burst Systems: Blaze Gear and Lightning Gear. You can also make use of new quick actions and call in Striker support characters to assist in battle.
I’m sure that all of this makes a lot more sense to fans of the many Gundam manga and anime series in Japan, but for a lot of people, it’s big robots fighting each other which, let’s be honest, is all that some people want in life…

Fantastic news, the Gundam VS series is (generally) fantastic, it’ll great to finally be able to play this online without horrendous lag!
This isn’t the first game of the VS series to come to home consoles though. Virtually every version has been ported (the last being Extreme VS), and there are even some console exclusive entries in the series.
