Breath Of The Wild’s The Master Trials DLC Expansion Detailed

One of the less appealing things about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was what Nintendo previously stated would be in the DLC Expansion Pass. It just didn’t seem like an awful lot of actual content, especially for the first of the two, but I have to admit that it sounds pretty cool, as Nintendo have fleshed out the details of what’s being released this summer.

First off is Trail of the Sword, a wave-based challenge that you have to overcome. Starting with nothing, you have to defeat all the enemies in a room, and after you’ve cleared all the trial – about 45 rooms – the true power of the Master Sword will be yours, keeping it permanently glowing.

That’s going to be rather useful in Hard Mode, as enemies now gradually regain health, and all enemies have been powered up by one level – Red Bokoblin are now Blue Bokoblin. Oh, and they might be on platforms in the sky now… Wonderful.

However, there’s also a lot of features that should make your adventure more pleasant. The Hero’s Path Mode lets you view where you’ve been in the world over the last 200 hours of play, so you can see if you’ve missed any parts of the world while hunting for shrines and secrets. See how that looks in action here:

A new Travel Medallion lets you place a one use fast travel marker to where you’re currently standing, while the Korok Mask helps you find those pesky Koroks. There’s also eight new pieces of equipment inspired by previous games, including Majora’s Mask and Midna’s Helm, a set of Phantom armour and Tingle’s rather form hugging outfit.

Players with the base game haven’t been forgotten, with a patch today that makes the game more pleasant with a choice of nine audio languages, including Japanese, while keeping English subtitles. So you can finally be done with the rather unusual feeling voice acting of the original.

  1. Cannot.
    Wait.

That Korok seed mask sounds handy.
I thought I was doing well at 150ish til a mate told me there were 900 in the game.
