With all the excitement surrounding Monster Hunter World, it’s easy to forget that Capcom has another MonHun title in the pipeline. Only recently the publisher launched Monster Hunter XX in Japan for 3DS, which will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch at a later date.
However, for fans living outside of Japan, you may not get to see either version of the action RPG sequel. Here’s the most recent statement from Capcom:
Just to clarify: our official response is we have not announced any plans to localize MHXX at this time. https://t.co/mI31mcrrvE

Although disappointing, it makes sense for them to shift all focus towards Monster Hunter World. In Capcom’s own words, this is the next evolution of the series and one that is looking to overhaul various systems and mechanics. The fact that World will launch simultaneously in all regions suggests a clean break with little reason to go back and localise XX.
For 3DS and Switch owners outside of Japan, it’s not great news.

The wording does at least still allow for a later announcement – and if not Switch is region free!
