UK Charts 17/06/17 – Horizon Zero Dawn Beats ARMS To The Top

Aloy’s first adventure into the far flung robot dinosaur infested future has been a big hit for Sony and Guerrilla Games, but for it to return to the top of the charts so many months after its original release is rather surprising. Naturally it did so with the help of some hefty discounting over the past week, as Sony pushed some retailer promotions for their consoles and games over the E3 week.

What it means is that Nintendo’s ARMS wasn’t able to clinch the top spot in what was otherwise a rather quiet week for games. It debuts in second place instead, and while it’s not saying much at this point, it’s the fourth biggest Switch game launch at retail behind Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 1-2 Switch.

The perennial GTA V is up into third place again, which is simply ridiculous when you think about it, while Dirt 4 slides a spot to fourth and last week’s leader, Wipeout Omega Collection, falls to fifth. The only other new release in the top 40 was MotoGP 17, down in 18th place.

The top 20 looks like this:

I'm probably wearing toe shoes, and there's nothing you can do to stop me!

  1. I wonder if part of Horizons return is down to it being given free with a PS4Pro over the past week or so.. Along with Wipeout collection, it was enough to make me take the 4K plunge.

    • It was. Bundled games are counted in the retail charts, so those and just general discounts will have helped.

  2. Very well deserved. HZD is probably the best PS4 exclusive game to date. Can’t wait for the Frozen Wilds DLC.

    • Same here. I’m so very impressed with how highly I regard the game.

    • Agreed. You can already pre-order the DLC on the PS store. Its got 31 Dec 2017 for the release date, but I’m guessing thats a placeholder. New Years Eve seems a bit of a strange date to release anything.

      • Oooo *goes to check* Cheers for that, fella.

  3. It’s a shame ARMS hasn’t charted much higher. I bought mine digital but because of the heat I’ve barely played it as I want it to be part of my fitness regime. I’m guessing it will played a lot more when cooler but would be good as a party game but most people need to bit another set of Joycons which is very expensive when bought with the game.

    • It deserves top place and would have had it if HZD wasn’t discounted. It’s a great game, a real Nintendo gem.
