Ubisoft Remove 4th Of July Fireworks From Watch Dogs 2 After Complaints

Today is the 4th of July and for the Americans it is also Independence Day. To all our American readers we’d like to wish you a happy Independence Day. But we’re not the only ones as Ubisoft wanted to extend its well wishes, and had decided to use Watch Dogs 2 as the medium in which to express those. The well wishes came in the form of fireworks, yet they don’t sound all that appealing.

If you listen the sound effects loop pretty quickly and the only change in volume is when the player got close to the source, where smaller fireworks could also be heard. These fireworks were supposed to trigger every in game night until July 10th, but a number of players complained about the addition which has led to Ubisoft removing the fireworks from the game.

In a statement over on Reddit the company wrote:

The people have spoken and we have carried out their will! There was an annoying bug that snuck into our Independence Day Event that made the sound effects from the fireworks noticeable from everywhere on the map. They have been turned off as to avoid any further noise complaints. Happy 4th of July, everyone! Be safe and don’t light your fireworks too late.

So now you can cruise around Watch Dogs 2 without having to put up with the drone of exploding fireworks for days on end.
