Lovecraftian Horror Game Moons Of Madness Announced For Consoles And PC

Rock Pocket Games have revealed Moons of Madness, a Lovecraft-inspired, first person, psychological horror game on Mars. Set on a realistic interpretation of the red planet the game combines NASA research, horror, and almost certainly, lots of tentacles and issues with your mother.

As you play as astronaut Shane Newehart you will encounter zone-outs, “a hallucination comprised of combined events from Shane’s past, things that will happen in the future, and information about things that should be impossible for him to know.” The game will also let you “explore mental illness through various game modes without antagonizing the medical condition itself.

The trailer is impressive and I’m getting strong SOMA vibes from it, which is a very good thing in my book. Looking forward to this one, it’s out next year on PS4, XB1 and PC.

Aside: When writing this up I kept on typing “Moos of Madness” – now that’s a game I’d like to play, a psychological thriller with cows.

  1. Regarding “Moos of Madness” – Could just a game involving very angry cows who moo a lot.

  2. Looks interesting, and I definitely get the SOMA thing from that trailer. (Which is a good thing)

And looking at the website for it, they seem to understand Lovecraft. Not just throwing things with tentacles at you. (And presumably avoiding the horrible racism he seemed to like a bit more than might have been “normal” for his time)

I also would like to see a game with Lovecraftian cows in. Cows with many tentacles. Try milking one of those buggers.
