The Switch Version Of Doom Does Not Have Multiplayer On The Card

If you buy the physical version of Doom from a retailer then your going to need some free space on you Nintendo Switch storage as it does not come with the multiplayer portion of the game. Due to size constraints on the card it is not included, but will be available as a free download to anyone who buys the game.  Nintendo say the box will clearly state that you will need an internet connection and storage space.

Obviously if you buy the whole game digitally then you get everything at once, including the DLC, but the SnapMap level editor will not be part of the package. The size of the multiplayer component has not been revealed.

Doom will be coming to Switch this Christmas.

  1. I wonder if it’s due to storage space limitations on the Switch’s cards, or if it’s just Bethesda cheaping out a bit and deliberately choosing lower capacity cards to reduce costs

    • Doom’s file size is around 75GB while The Nintendo Switch cards can carry up to 32GB of memory, so I guess Bethesda only had room for the campaign. But to me, the multiplayer mode is somewhere around 30 to 40 GB.

  2. Seems like a decent compromise. Wonder if buyers of the digital version will be given the same option?
