Headset manufacturers do love a good video game tie in every now and then. There’s usually something about custom audio profiles or just some mixed up colours, but what Ubisoft, Focal and Tournaire have teamed up on for Assassin’s Creed Origins takes the biscuit. €50,000 worth of biscuit.
The key company in that trio is Tournaire, the French jeweller, who have taken 10 Focal Listen Wireless headphone and then thrown an Eye of Horus motif at it in 18 carat gold to turn them into Assassin’s Creed Origins Utopia by Tournaire. These can also accompanied by 10 €12,000 bronze head of the game’s protagonist, if you like.

Thankfully, there are also versions of these headsets that can be bought by those who aren’t hedge fund managers, Russian oligarchs or tech startup CEOs, and while still pricey, the regular AC Origins styled Listen Wireless headphones will set you back a mere €249 in comparison, as a limited run of 2,222 only available through Ubisoft. They actually look pretty nice with a stylise shiny blue highlighted by touches of gold colouring.
The headphones feature Bluetooth, meaning that to connect them and use them for playing AC Origins, you’ll actually have to use a cable to your controller or another sound output. When simply used as headphones out and about, there’s 20 hours of battery life, while dual microphones are tuned for clear voice capture.

Well this makes the £120K GRID 2 with a BAC Mono look much better value.

A £250 headset with ooh, probably around £50 worth of gold trim? And all for only £50k? Bargain! :P
Crazy_Del
Don’t worry it’ll sell well we will see footballers wearing them when they arrive for the pre-match warm up…. I’m looking at you Neymar! Get me one of them and I’ll never say anything rude about you Neymar!
The Lone Steven
Meh. Looks just overpriced tat. Perhaps, it is just due to the image not doing the gold justice but really? 50k? You can buy a house(Ok, maybe not) for that price or purchase Greece and have enough left over for 50k freddos. It’ll be too risky to use because of wear and tear and anyone that buys it will want to avoid ruining it. It is just…
OH, Ubisoft.
You greedy bastards.
Oh yes, I’ve not forgotten about the £800 edition that doesn’t even include the game(i think). In fact, why is it no longer standard to include the darn game in expensive collector editions? Surely, the main appeal is the fecking game?
I may be getting too old for this crap.
Crazy_Del
The game is included aswell as the Season Pass Steven.

I assume there will be a TSA competition once your reviewed your set?
The Lone Steven
It’ll be flogged on Ebay to stock TSA towers up with 50k freddos, 10k biscuits, 90000 pints of milk and 30k teabags.
Crazy_Del
And don’t forget the one giant cake!*
*it may or may not be a lie!

Haha, yeah. If we get a €50,000 headset to review, we’ll give it away afterwards.
Jim Hargreaves
I’ll wait for it to go down to £49,975, thanks.

Is it April 1st again already?
