Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono has revealed that the yellow, electrical, and completely fictional character Pikachu is now an official ambassador for the Japanese city of Osaka. Just in case that wasn’t odd enough, his co-ambassador is Hello Kitty.
The short, chubby rodent Pokémon will help promote the city which is is bidding to host the World Expo 2025. Piakchu was recently hit the headlines when he spoke for the first time in the new movie Pokémon: I Choose You!
Pikachu has not commented on his new position but rumour has it he was inspired by a chubby orange rodent who has managed to become President of the United States.
