A Way Out Is Releasing On 23rd March With Single Copy Online Co-op

One of the most interesting and promising games in EA’s line up is A Way Out, a prison escape story that’s built from the ground up for cooperative play and coming from the makers of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. The game is out on 23rd March 2018 and will feature a fascinating split-screen presentation.

The game is designed with couch play in mind, but also supports online play. While EA are getting a lot of flak right now, they’re doing exactly the right thing for this game with an announcement at The Game Awards that you only need to play one copy of the game in order to play co-op online, with your co-op buddy having to download a “friends pass free trial” version of the game. The entire game has to be played with two people, so it would’ve been kind of crappy if that wasn’t the case, but still great to see EA and Hazelight make a positive announcement like this.

Oh, and Hazelight’s Josef Fares went on a bit of a rant about the Oscars and how much he loves video games these days, as well as defending EA for the good that they do, despite the most recent stumbles that they’ve been making. It’s been captured and preserved for posterity by Kotaku.
