Call of Duty held the Christmas number one, and it’s no surprise at all to see it hold the top spot as we head into the new year. There might have been Boxing Day sales to help spur things along, but the top five of COD WWII, FIFA 18, Star Wars Battlefront II, Assassin’s Creed Origins and GTA V were frozen in position.
There was some shuffling around behind that point, as Nintendo saw Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe all scooch up into the top 10, but with no new releases, things were pretty uneventful.
So we turn back to Call of Duty: WWII. Its 9th consecutive week at the top matches the best ever record from a COD game – Modern Warfare 2 in 2009 – and with not much set to come out in the first half of January, it’s likely to meet Black Ops III’s record of 11 total weeks on top in short order.
