After nearly 14 years an official follow up to the esoteric indie exploration game Yume Nikki is going to be released. Yume Nikki: Dream Diary is a new video game set in the same twisted dreamscape as the original freeware release.
A few days ago a bizarre 8 minute teaser video for the game was released, showing little more than indecipherable imagery and a logo for the project.
The game will launch on February 23rd for $19.99 and will include support for English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish language options. The original game is described as a”divisively controversial work among fans” and Kadokawa Games has stated that Kikiyama, the mysterious creators of the first Yume Nikki, are involved with the new project.
