[UPDATE]: Anthem Has Been Pushed Back To Early 2019

More development time needed.

Last week there were rumours that EA were going to delay the release window of its upcoming sci-fi third person shooter Anthem, which was originally announced for the Autumn of this year. Today confirmation came that Anthem has indeed been pushed back, and we won’t see it until early 2019 at least.

Anthem’s main focus is on the co-op multiplayer aspect with teams of players encouraged to explore a world using a lot of sci-fi gadgets. However some are cautious of how EA will be handling Anthem post release, especially after the furore that erupted over Star Wars Battlefront II’s loot boxes.

UPDATE: “It’s not a delay,” EA’s Blake Jorgensen told the Wall Street Journal, despite the game being previously announced for Fall 2018. “Regardless of kind of how it’s being portrayed, we are not looking at that as a delay in the game,” confirms Andrew Wilson in an investors call.  I guess everyone at Microsoft’s E3 press conference imagine the release window.

  1. Noooooooooooo.

This is the one game I’ve seen coming up that I’m genuinely excited about.

I guess it’s the usual tough, I’d rather it came out later and be better as a result.

  2. Bound to happen from the negative feedback of Mass Effect: Andromeda and the loot boxes/microtransactions from Battlefront II
I am happy that they have learned their lesson!
