Mod Support Is Coming To Cities: Skylines On Xbox One Today

One of the best aspects of Cities: Skylines on PC is that you can delve into the Steam Workshop to grab scenarios, community created buildings, fancy roundabouts and much more. That’s something that was lacking when the game made the jump to console last year – in addition to lagging quite a bit behind with the drip feed of new expansions – but Paradox and porting house Tantalus are bringing mod support for the Xbox One version of the game in an update releasing today.

There won’t be quite the same degree of freedom as on Steam, but Tantalus and the Xbox team have curated and tested a bunch of mods that range from swimming pools to UFOs and giant squirrel statues! The mods come from a number of creators including Avanya, BoldlyBuilding, Feindbild, Gula, KingLeno, Matt Crux, Quad Rioters, SvenBerlin, Tomas13TO, and Zed68.

Sadly you shouldn’t expect to see this kind of content appearing on PlayStation 4, as we saw with Fallout 4 and Skyrim that Sony want to keep a much tighter lid on what’s allowed on their platform than Microsoft.

Also coming in the near future on 6th March is the Content Creator Pack – available on both XBO and PS4, and part of the season pass – which includes a bunch of buildings from the very best of the community’s artists and modellers, and there will also be a free update to let you host your own sports teams in your city coming.
