Loot boxes have become quite the contentious subject both in gaming communities, and now more frequently in legislative branches around the world. Different regions have different rules, like China for example where drop rates for items in loot boxes have to be published. Such rules do not exist in other nations, at least not yet. Gaming companies will be approaching loot boxes in their own ways, with Riot Games the latest to make their position clear.
In League of Legends players can earn or buy loot chests for a chance to gain items they do not already have. Now Riot Games have taken a step further and released the drop rates for items, allowing players to see what the chance of a specific item category has of appearing. There are two types of chest, Hextech and Masterwork, with both of their rates detailed below.

Chests may contain items players already own but Riot Games are looking at ways to use duplicate shards, though players can re-roll to guarantee an unowned item.
