Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion Is The Game’s First Paid DLC, Update 3.0 Inbound

I'm an Octoling now.

2018 is the year of the Octoling, according to Nintendo. While there’s tons of free updates still coming to the game – we’ll get to Update 3.0 in a moment – Octo Expansion is a new single player story to play through and the game’s first paid DLC.

It follows Agent 8, an amnesiac that looks like an Octoling who finds themself waking in a sprawling underground system. There’s 80 levels to play through, new and returning characters to meet, and new depths to the series’ weird and wonderful lore.

Bust out of the underground and into Inkopolis, and you’ll be able to hop into online multiplayer as an Octoling.

Octo Expansion will be releasing in the summer, but you can buy it now on the eShop and unlock some bonus gear.

Before then, we’ll see the release of Update 3.0. It’s a pretty hefty update, adding 100 new pieces of gear, three new maps – Piranha Pit, Camp Triggerfish and Wahoo World – brings a new X rank to achieve that’s higher than S+ rank, and will fiddle with the single player so that Callie can eventually appear in the Octocanyon.
