To say that The Master Chief Collection left a bitter taste in the Halo community’s mouth is something of an understatement, with the ambitious anthology release buckling under the weight of the collective matchmaking system needed to merge four games together into a cohesive whole.
Last year 343 Industries announced their intent to return to TMCC with a wholesale rewrite of the multiplayer systems and to address the longstanding issues with the game. At the same time, they’re adding support for Xbox One X, bringing the game up to speed with 4K support, smoothed out performance and more.
It is time. Halo Community Feedback Program members, please check your emails. Let’s do this. pic.twitter.com/skPIlNmgmT

Now that update is going into the promised public “flighting” programme, in which invited community testers will be able to give feedback on rapid iterative updates to the game. Invites for this are going out today and tomorrow for those in the Halo Community Feedback Program. As for when it will be releasing for the public, nobody knows just yet, but given the timing of the testing phase, I wouldn’t be terribly surprised to see something about this at E3.
