The first Pokémon game to appear on Nintendo Switch is aimed squarely at the millions and millions of people playing Pokémon Go on mobile. Announced in the run up to E3, Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! are a return to the Kanto region and a lovely looking 3D remake of the original games, but it’s been spruced up with tons of new ideas, from how you’ll catch Pokémon to how you can interact with your partner as you journey.
The latest trailer showcases a bunch of these features.
There’s a fair bit to take in from the trailer, from how you’ll be revisiting familiar locales and battling familiar rival trainers, to how you can give Pikachu a quiff and dress him or her up. You’ll be followed around the world by one of your Pokémon, which isn’t necessarily Pikachu or Eevee, and can even ride some of the larger ones to get around faster.
Quite surprisingly, there’s even co-op play that allows two trainers to share the same world and team up in battles. Though head to head battles can take place online or with local wireless play, it seems that co-op may be restricted to on-console play. The second player can pick up a Joy-Con and shake it to join in, according to a press release. This will make it easier to catch Pokémon, and you can tag team in Pokémon battles.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! are coming to Nintendo Switch on 16th November.
