“You can’t just go round kicking people in the balls, even if you are the vicar’s son.” How can you possibly fail to like a game that includes the above dialogue in its teaser trailer?
The Shapeshifting Detective is a new entry in the fairly niche genre of ‘supernatural-noir murder mystery FMV.’ That’s right, FMV, a video game medium that usually includes the type of acting that would make a recipient of a Golden Raspberry cringe. There’s some fairly suspect acting in this trailer too and, quite frankly, it’s all the better for it.
The player takes on the role of a detective who can shape-shift into other characters, allowing you to unlock secret conversations and private encounters. It’s up to this shape-shifting sleuth to uncover who killed Dorota Shaw. The killer is one of three tarot readers, with the game randomly choosing which of them is the murderer at the start of each play-through.
