Daybreak games have recently completed a beta test on PC for Planetside Arena, their Battle Royale title set in the Planetside universe. That seems to have gone well but a recent post to their blog has announced that the launch will now be delayed until the newly revealed PlayStation 4 version of the game is ready.
“After much consideration, we’ve decided to postpone the current PC-only release date and launch simultaneously across PC and PlayStation 4 this summer,” they explain. “We’ve always envisioned PlanetSide Arena as a way for players to experience the epic gameplay of the PlanetSide universe, through fast-paced, combined arms combat and massive-scale multiplayer modes. We believe that delivering the most polished version of PlanetSide Arena that meets these expectations, on both platforms, outweighs any other consideration.”
Given the increasingly crowded free-to-play market Daybreak are going to need all the headlines they can get when the game is released and that may be another reason why they’re holding out for a simultaneous launch.
Along with the usual Battle Royale mode the game also a a ridiculous 250 v 250 mode called Massive Clash, a title that you should not try and say to ladies after you’ve had a few pints.
