UK Charts 23/02/19 – Anthem tops the charts but isn’t the biggest release of the year

EA’s latest multiplayer open world shooty thing, Anthem, has hit the top of the UK charts and soundly thrashed sales of last week’s chart topper Far Cry: New Dawn. However, it’s not the biggest release of the year with Kingdom Hearts III and Resident Evil 2 beating it in week one sales both of which are single player story driven games.

It has been reported the game has half the physical sales of Mass Effect Andromeda and roughly a quarter of those for Destiny 2, but with people shifting to digital downloads, particularly for this type of game, perhaps more sales have happened on digital store fronts.

Here’s the top twenty-six,  just so we can see where Crackdown 3 is this week.

  1. “Here’s the top twenty-six, just so we can see where Crackdown 3 is this week.” – Nicely done! lol

  2. Lol, poor Crackdown.
It will be interesting to see how many copies of Anthem were sold digitally. I had originally intended to buy it but put my wallet away when I saw the £59.99 price tag. That’s crazy money for a game which, apparently, isn’t exactly bursting at the seams with content.
