Black Ops 4 gets a new Blackout battle royale map today, and it’s free to play through April

Players have been crying out for more meaningful additions and changes to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (outside of more monetisations options), and Treyarch have answered with the release of a new Alcatraz map for the game’s Blackout battle royale mode. It’s out today for PlayStation 4 and coming soon to Xbox One and PC, most likely on 9th April and following the standard 7 day exclusivity period, though this has not been confirmed.

Set on the infamous prison island, this is a much smaller and more compact map than the main one featured in the mode, but retains all of the same features. One of the main additions that Treyarch made to the formula is to add zombies that guard loot caches.

To get people into the game, they’re also holding a promotional period where you can play Blackout for free. That’s starting today and running until 30th April. It’s not 100% clear, but we believe this will be across all platforms. We will update this post if we discover information to the contrary.
