Sniper Elite V2 Remastered shoots for a May release date

Though the series has continued evolve, with more expansive environments, cannier AI and improved graphics, I’m sure that many people will still consider Sniper Elite V2 the best game in the series. Announced alongside a bunch of other Sniper Elite game announcements a few weeks ago, it’s being remastered for modern consoles, giving Karl Fairburne’s trip to Berlin a bit of spit and polish along the way.

The game will be heading to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on 14th May.

The funny thing is that V2 was itself a remake of the 2005 original, rebuilding the game from the ground up and retelling its story in 2012. Now, another seven years later, it’s being remastered again – at this rate I’m looking forward to Sniper Elite V2 Re-remastered some time in 2026. It’s being given 4K support on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, with HDR on all systems that can handle it, and with a battery of other visual tweaks and changes to bring it a little more up to date. The above comparison trailer does a good job of showing the improvement.

We went hands on with the game and chatted to Rebellion about the Remaster, so make sure to check out our Sniper Elite V2 Remastered preview.

There’s also a new photo mode, the seven characters from the Zombie Army trilogy brought in as new playable character, an expanded multiplayer up to 16 players on everything that isn’t Switch (which gets 8 player), and all of the DLC content is being bundled in as well.

It will be priced at £29.99/£34.99/€34.99, with a 10% discount on digital purchases, while Steam users who already own the original edition of Sniper Elite V2 can upgrade to Sniper Elite V2 Remastered for £6.99/$9.99/€9.99.
