Dungeon crawling RPG Warhammer: Chaosbane has a pretty Kul new story trailer

The first action RPG set in the Warhammer fantasy universe is nearly upon us, as Warhammer: Chaosbane launches on 4th June for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (or you can get it on 31st May next week if you plumb for a Digital Deluxe or Magnus edition), but what’s it all about? Well that’s what the new story trailer is here to tell us.

The game is set in the year 2301 (of the Warhammer world, not ours), after the army of Kurgan warlord Asavar Kul was defeated outside the city of Prague Praag by the united armies and heroes of the Empire and their allies. It sounds pretty epic, but that’s just the starting point for Chaosbane’s story, as the Dark Gods of Chaos still plan to overthrow the Empire of Man and its new leader Magnus.

That’s where the four heroes come in, with the High Elf Mage, Wood Elf Scout, Imperial Warrior and Dwarf Slayer teaming up in this hack ‘n’ slash action RPG to battle the forces of Chaos through the sewers of Nuln, the streets of Praag and beyond. You’ll be fighting all the Chaos Gods, from the plague and pestilence of Nurgle, to the berserk rage of Khorn, the gluttony of Slaanesh and wizardry of Tzeentch.

We went hands on with the game just last week, finding a fun and accessible co-op dungeon crawler, with a real emphasis on being able to drop in and out of the action, both locally and online. There’s plenty of depth to it as well, with lots of looting and character build customisation to indulge in. As I wrote in our most recent Warhammer: Chaosbane preview, “If you’re itching for a fantasy action RPG, Chaosbane will be more than happy to help you scratch it.”
