Subscription services are nothing new when it comes to the games industry but few companies have taken the steps to offer one. You have services like EA Access and Xbox Game Pass which offer subscribers a lot of games to access for affordable fees, and it could be the way the industry evolves long term. That possible evolution may have more evidence to back it up as it appears Ubisoft may be preparing to launch its own subscription service called Ubisoft Pass, which could give access to the company’s extensive back catalogue as well as future releases.
This evidence was spotted by ResetEra member Mojito who posted the below placeholder image that apparently came from Ubisoft’s store page.
Considering that’s called Ubisoft Pass Premium it may be evidence that the company will have types of membership, similar to EA Access which has monthly and yearly subscription options. Premium, in this case, could mean a yearly pass or additional benefits for Premium members. Ubisoft’s E3 conference will be taking place on June 10th so it is likely we’ll get news of Ubisoft Pass, if it exists, there including pricing options, launch dates, and which platforms it will be on. EA already has its pass on PC and Xbox One with PS4 coming soon, so it wouldn’t be out of the realm for Ubisoft to target those same platforms and maybe go for Switch as well.
