Death Stranding release date news coming as PSN pre-order page goes live

You won’t have to wait much longer for an update on Death Stranding, the upcoming PlayStation exclusive from Metal Gear mastermind, Hideo Kojima.

It was confirmed earlier this week by Sony and Kojima Productions that a major update will be dropping at some point today. In the meantime, some PlayStation Network users are reporting that they’ve seen a pre-order page for the hotly anticipated game appear on the PlayStation Store.

The store screenshot above was snapped by Twitter user TroydaKaz and while it doesn’t give us a solid release date (for now, at least) there’s still some interesting tidbits of information to be had, including a short synopsis:

“Sam Bridges must brave a world transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the remnants of our future in his hands, he embarks on a journey to reunite a shattered world.”

As with previous teasers, trailers, and comments from Kojima himself, this doesn’t paint a clear picture of how Death Stranding will actually play.

The pre-order page doesn’t have a price for the game though does outline some bonus digital goodies for those who’ve already committed to buying it. These include an exclusive PlayStation 4 dynamic theme to pimp out your home menu as well as Chibi Ludens PSN avatar, Ludens being the mascot for Kojima Productions.

More relevant to the game itself we has some cosmetic items for lead character, Sam Bridges. Pre-ordering Death Stranding will net you a gold pair of glasses, gold plate armour, gold hat, and gold speed skeleton. It’s worth noting that these are purely cosmetic and have no impact on gameplay itself.

Those wanting to find out more about Death Stranding should keep their eyes peeled for today’s announcement. There’s currently a PlayStation live broadcast happening over on Twitch which fans have been mining for clues.

  1. If there’s been a pre-order page on the PSN store it shouldn’t be that long from release (months, not next year). So the people thinking it’ll be a cross gen release with PS5 will be wrong.

  2. Can’t wait for this game so this is great news.
