Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York adds a little Telltale to the World of Darkness this year

The Vampire: The Masquerade franchise is spreading its vampiric influence far and wide, as Vampire: The Masquerade: – Coteries of New York has been announced by Draw Distance. The game promises a “unique, atmospheric, single-player narrative experience”, leaning on a style of story-telling not too dissimilar to Telltale’s form of morally tricky dilemmas, but with what sounds like much more freedom to grow your character.

The game will be coming to PC, Mac, Linux and Nintendo Switch in Q4 2019.

This game will be set in the world found in 5th Edition Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop RPG. Within, you’re a newly-fledged vampire in New York, trying to find what that means, meeting other NPCs, and taking part in the power struggle between the Camarilla and the Anarchs. You’ll build your own Coterie of companions, have several different storylines to pursue, and use Disciplines to play in different styles and reach your goal.

If you thought that Vampires: The Masquerade was in the gaming news a lot over the last few months, you’d be right, and it’s just going to get busier with the announcement of Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York. Alongside Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in development at Hardsuit Labs and published by IP owner Paradox Interactive, and an untitled Vampire: The Masquerade RPG from The Council developers Big Bad Wolf and Bigben Interactive, Coteries of New York is the third game to be announced in quick succession.

Draw Distance is a new-sounding studio, but is actually a refreshed name and brand for indie Polish studio formerly known as iFun4all S.A.. They were the publisher and creator of games like Serial Cleaner, Halls of Horror for Mixer, Ritual: Crown of Horns and more.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York is coming to PC, Mac, Linux and Nintendo Switch to start with, but Draw Distance are taking a “wait and see” approach to bringing it to other consoles. The planned release window is Q4 2019.
