Genesis Alpha One update 2.0 adds warbots, fixes some issues

Genesis Alpha One is a very entertaining game, at least my opinion. You’re scouring the stars for a new home for humanity to start afresh. The journey isn’t that simple though with areas of space that are incredibly dangerous and host to all manner of danger. These dangers include creatures that can swarm you and your companions, to other advanced species who don’t like the fact you’re on their turf taking resources.

You could fight them yourselves but the latest update allows some extra allies in the fight as Guard Bots have been added including two models of warbot that will patrol your ship and come on excavations to take out the enemies while you’re gathering resources. The full list of what else Genesis Alpha One’s 2.0 update brings can be seen below.

Guard Bots (Warbot & Maintenance Bot)

The Guard Bots are a brand-new feature to Genesis Alpha One and can be produced in the workshop, after you’ve found the schematics. Guard Bots can be given instructions via the command menu in the same way as the crew can be interacted with by talking to them. If not, deactivated Guard Bots will remain at a distance of 30 meters of their last ordered position.

There is a maximum of 5 Guard Bots at a time and they will recover health when not under attack and can be taken on planet expeditions. Talking to the guard bots will allow the following commands:

  • Rename the guard bot
  • Choose weaponry (if available)
  • Guard bot hints (talk)
  • Info stats

Guard Bot Commands

  • Guard: Follows the player or selected crew member
  • Stay / Defence: Bots will stay at this position and only seek targets in close proximity and will also save the position as one of 3 waypoints.
  • Patrol: Bots will move on the path connected by the saved waypoints. On attacks, stays within distance to its last patrol position.
  • Deactivated: Remains at his current position until receiving another command

Guard Bot 1: Heavy Warbot

The Heavy Warbots will kill on enemies on sight, but only if they are moving! If the enemy remains still, then your bots will not be able to target the alien threat. The Warbots will not target spores and eggs. Be careful though, as the aliens will target and attack the Warbots!

  • Slow
  • Heavy Armour
  • Unable to enter the maintenance areas
  • Will deactivate if out of ammo and the player will require 1 plutonium to replenish the ammo

Heavy War-Bot Weapons

The Warbot has one weapon by default though the player can unlock other weapons and select them by talking to the robot.

  • Low frequency weapons will have heavy damage
  • High frequency weapons will have low damage

Guard Bot 2: Maintenance Bot

The Maintenance Bots will be able to reboot energy nodes which are attacked by the alien threat, and what’s even better about these little helpers, is that they are ignored by aliens!
