PUBG Corporation has announced it has hired Glen Schofield to take charge at its new studio Striking Distance as CEO to help guide the new project the company is working on. Glen Schofield is one of the co-founders of Sledgehammer Studios which is known for its Call of Duty games WWII, Advanced Warfare, and Modern Warfare 3. He was also the Vice President and General Manager of Visceral Games, the home of the iconic Dead Space franchise.
According to the introductory video Striking Distance’s game will be a narrative driven game set in the PUBG universe, and looking beyond its Battle Royale beginnings. It’s likely Striking DIstance will be working with the recently established PUBG Special Divisions department which has been set up to look at new ways the brand could evolve, though the department itself will not be making any games. Instead what it discovers could be used by Striking Distance to shape the game that the studio will be working on. It’s unlikely we’ll see anything concrete for a while yet though.
