Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled’s was rudely bumped off the track and into second place last week by Super Mario Maker 2 for Nintendo Switch, in a strong week for the Japanese manufacturer’s console. Crash still did well, with just a 48% dip in sales that meant it kept F1 2019 behind it in third (it not quite matching last year’s F1 2018 launch sales despite an earlier launch date), while fourth place was nabbed by Yakuza spin-off Judgment.
Super Mario Maker 2 was the biggest release of the year so far for Nintendo, ahead of the port of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, and saw Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Breath of the Wild all having healthy week-on-week sales bumps. Breath of the Wild just missed out on a top ten spot by 28 copies!
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was one of the games that denied it, as it got its physical Switch release a week after the Xbox One and PS4 versions, helping it climb up to 9th place as the Switch version sold more than the two home consoles combined in their first week. More surprising was Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which leapt up to eighth from thirty-fourth!
