Original Story: After a few leaks we have the first official details of the new Super Monkey Ball game, “Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball”, which roughly translates to ‘good to eat’ or ‘now taste good’, but I’m going to call it Tasty Super Monkey Balls just to be childish.
The game is scheduled for release in Japan on October 31st for Switch and PlayStation 4 with a PC version landing on Steam in December.
I’m firing all the Japanese text through Google Translate so I’m not promising this is entirely correct, but from what I can see this is a remake of the Wii Super Monkey Ball ‘ Banana Blitz’ released in 2006. That game has a score of 74 on Metacritic, a lot of the complaints were down to the forced use of motion controls but the Famitsu article does mention the game has “additional functions” so hopefully there will be a new control method. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz was also released on PlayStation Vita.
Sega have yet to officially announce the game so we are not sure if it will be heading West, but most Sega games do so you will probably be able to get some Tasty Monkey Balls in your hands if you live in Europe.
UPDATE: It has now been officially announced as Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD and it’s coming to Xbox One as well. The trailer confirms an October 29th release for North America and Europe.
