Switch owners picking up Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 today will be happy to hear that, in addition to the paid DLC season pass that Nintendo recently announced, they’ll also be getting some free DLC content. On 30th August, Cyclops and Colossus will be added as playable characters in a free update.

Beyond that, there will also be a series of alternate outfits for all of the game’s playable characters coming to the game in the rest of 2019 and first quarter of 2020. That will run alongside the three DLC packs that are in the paid Expansion Pass. Those will bring characters from the Fantastic Four, X-Men and Marvel Knights to the game, each with new story content to play through. The first of these will arrive this autumn and adds Moon Knight, Blade, Punisher and Morbius.
Out now, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 revives the cult favourite series a decade after the second game. Though it shares the series name, this is a soft-reboot with a brand new story based around Thanos and his hunt for the Infinity Stones. You battle against him and a wider cast of villains with the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men and more, in a story that’s got more to do with the wider comic book universe than the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In our Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order Review, Nick wrote, “Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a great series revival that should keep new and old fans busy for quite a while.”
