Mike Bithell knows Gun-Fu – look behind the scenes of John Wick Hex

 

Mike Bithell’s come a long way from making a game about AI quadrilaterals, founding his own game studio a few years ago and now partnering with Good Shepherd Entertainment and Lionsgate Entertainment to adapt John Wick into a video game.

John Wick Hex is a “timeline strategy game”, putting you in the shoes of John Wick, but giving you the time to quickly consider the next action you want to make, instead of having to make those decisions in a split second as the fictional character would. Of course, in the films, Keanu Reeves’ actions are all choreographed, and so to get the game to look and feel right, Mike Bithell went to 87Eleven Action Design and their Stunt Coordinator Jonathan Eusebio to learn Gun-Fu.

In our hands on preview from E3, Miguel wrote, “There’s a lot of thought and care put into John Wick Hex, when a spinoff for the film series could have very easily just been a quick Unreal Engine action shooter rush-job. […] John Wick Hex is sleek, simple, and super addictive.”

John Wick Hex is coming to Windows, Mac and consoles.
