Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation details Dragon Quest’s Hero’s abilities

Nintendo has taken a slightly different approach with a presentation that goes into a lot of detail for the upcoming DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in which the Dragon Quest Hero is the character being added to the roster. Presented by Masahiro Sakurai the presentation goes through pretty much everything you can expect from the new addition to the roster, with the video itself clocking in at over 20 minutes. It tells you everything from the voice actors behind the character to the abilities the character has, and there are a lot of them.

There are four variations of the Dragon Quest Hero coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with the protagonists of Dragon Quest XI, Dragon Quest VIII, Dragon Quest III, and Dragon Quest V. While they are different characters the move sets they’ll have will be the same so it doesn’t matter which one you pick. The Hero has a ton of spells at their disposal including Frizz, Zap, and Woosh which can be powered up to deal a lot of damage. A couple of spells could even lead to instant KOs, provided there’s enough mana in the pool. The Hero also has access to the highest number of abilities compared to the rest of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. The DLC will also add the stage Yggdrasil’s Altar.

Additions from the 4.0 update will include a timer for the Final Smash meter, counting down how long you have to use it. The Adventure mode will be getting a Very Easy difficulty setting. A spectate mode will allow you to pick who you think will win a battle and if you choose correctly you’ll be awarded points which can be traded for prizes in game. There’s no risk as if your selection loses you don’t lose anything. Online Tourneys are also being added meaning you can face off against a number of players to be crowned champion. Rules will be preset but there may be times when things change, including special event tournaments.

The update will be released tomorrow while the Hero DLC is available today in North America and tomorrow, July 31st, in Europe.
