Garfield Kart Furious Racing is a thing and it’s out this November on consoles and PC

Watch out Crash, there’s a new furry creature looking to steal you kart racing crown and it’s *checks notes* Garfield.

*Shouts off camera* Are you sure this is right? Garfield? The fat lazy cat who’s sole purpose in life is to eat lasagne? That Garfield? Jon, Odie the dog, that Garfield? Really?!? Jesus frickin’ Christ…

Microids have announced Garfield Kart Furious Racing will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam on 7th November in Europe and on 5th November in the United States.

It appears this is a remaster of Garfield Kart, a game that was released in 2013 for mobile devices, 3DS, and Steam. Clearly that passed me by and you probably missed it as well so let’s get the lowdown from Wikipedia.

In its review, Nintendo Life gave Garfield Kart a score of 3/10 while describing it as “a bland, horribly un-balanced Kart game”. Hardcore Gamer gave Garfield Kart a rating of 1.5, criticizing the game as “absolutely dreadful”.

Oh. Well let us hope things have been tweaked for this new version which will let you play as eight characters from the series, Garfield, Odie, Jon, Nermal, Arlene, Liz, Harry and Squeak.

“Each of the available characters and karts (which can be customised with dozens of accessories) has its own characteristics and a unique driving style: make a strategic choice to match your playing style so that you can cross the finish line in first place,” say Microids.

“The Garfield Kart Furious Racing game is perfect for playing with friends or family and features 16 iconic tracks from the world of Garfield, including Palerock Lake and the Pastacosi Factory,” the add, possibly not using the word ‘iconic’ correctly.

“Compete in online races with up to 8 players and split-screen races with up to 4 players. Nintendo Switch players can take advantage of local, wireless connections to connect up to 8 consoles!”
