No Man’s Sky Beyond launches in two weeks, adds PlayStation VR support

No Man’s Sky is transforming once more with the Beyond update that will be released on 14th August 2019 for free on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

“Beyond will be our most ambitious chapter so far, and something we’ve been working ridiculously hard on. We’ll continue to support No Man’s Sky in this way for the foreseeable future,” say Hello Games.

This is the seventh major free update to game and is actually three major updates rolled into one release. The online features of the game are being expanded with “radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together.”

“While this brings people together like never before, and has many recognisable online elements, we don’t consider No Man’s Sky to be an MMO — it won’t require a subscription, won’t contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players,” adds Sean Murray,

However, the big thing for PlayStation gamers is the thing I have predicted since the game was announced and – finally – it’s happening, PlayStation VR support!

No Man’s Sky has had quite an evolution, the game promised so much but failed to deliver when it was released, but since then the team at Hello Games have been adding features and creating a much larger, broader game.

“As a naïve studio, we definitely got excited about our game, people got excited, and we talked about it way too early,” Murray told Gi.Biz.

“When you’re an indie studio working hard to survive, the one thing that doesn’t cross your mind is, ‘People are too excited about my game.’ We are in the lucky position where we can be more cautious in future, and we will be. We will be much more understanding of the difference between talking excitedly about your game and marketing it, which is never something we’d ever really done before.”

  1. PSVR support is finally here (nearly) yippee,
I’ve been waiting for this update before getting back into the game. As I haven’t played it for nearly a year I’m thinking about starting from scratch, especially as my base had somehow been messed up with rooms slightly higher than others, some moved and impossible to connect together, storage pods floating above the planet to name but a few.

  2. Finally a date – i can take a break from checking reddit twice daily lol !
