Resident Evil fan site Biohaze have spotted that Capcom are inviting members of the Resident Evil Ambassador program to help test a new game that is in development. Here is a translation of the email they have sent out.
To all Resident Evil Ambassadors,
Thank you for your patronage regarding the Resident Evil series.
Today, we are letting you know that we are recruiting testers for a game that’s in development!!
We are interested in incorporating the feedback of all Ambassadors into our development, so please read the details below and, if you are interested in participating, click the Entry button.
Unfortunately the Ambassador program is only available in Japan so there is no chance of us getting our paws on the game, but the question is, which game is it? The remake of Resident Evil 2 proved exceedingly popular, gaining high scores across the board and becoming one of Capcom’s top selling titles so it would seem logical to remake Resident Evil 3 in the same style. I mean, that would be the obvious thing to do and I certainly have not heard anything about that being a thing, this is just a guess.
Of course they might be going ahead and working on Resident Evil 8, a new entry to the series would be good, or who knows they might even be remaking the most popular game of the series, Resident Evil 4.
Capcom wont be releasing any games until well into next year so they are clearly working on a number of projects, could those numbers be 3,4 and 8?
They have also said that “numerous” games are being developed using the Resident Evil 2 remake engine.
“The games we developed using the RE engine during this current hardware generation have received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of building this engine, we kept the ability to augment it for next-generation development in mind,” stated the company during a financial call. “As such, we view the RE engine as one of our strengths that will contribute to next-generation game creation.”
