VR titles Golem and Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son get launch dates

A double dish of VR delights for you in this post starting with Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son which will land on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on September 17th for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99.

The game places players in the shoes of Phil Connors Jr., the son of Phil Connors (Bill Murray) from the iconic film, who returns to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania only to become trapped in a time loop just as his father once was. By exploring the world and solving puzzles you might just be able to break out of the perpetual time loop that you get stuck in. The game will feature familiar faces from the movie as well as new characters created just for the game

” long the way, the charming but arrogant and social media-obsessed Phil Connors Jr. will learn valuable lessons about life, love, and family,” say Tequila Works.

“At Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, we are focused on extending beloved IP into new mediums and reaching new audiences. ‘Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son’ is a perfect example of that,” said Jake Zim, Senior Vice President of Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures Entertainment. “By continuing the world of ‘Groundhog Day’ in a VR game, we can introduce a new generation to the magic of the film and expand upon this universe. While the game introduces a new, modern story and protagonist, the themes explored by the original film remain true to this day.”

The second game, Golem, is a PlayStation VR exclusive and it will arrive in both physical and digital form this Autumn.

In Golem you take on the role of Twine, an adventurous kid who has been left critically injured by a serious accident. While you can’t leave your bed, you develop an extraordinary ability to create and control large stone golems and see the world through their eyes. The game has been designed specifically for VR and features music from award-winning composer Marty O’Donnell, creator of the soundtrack for Halo and Destiny.

The game was first revealed way back in 2015 so has taken a while to reach the shelves.
