Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is teeming with dozens of smaller features that may have slipped under your radar. One of these, dubbed “Hunter Helper” is a new system put in place to encourage co-operation between beast slaying veterans and less experienced players.
Here’s how it works. After beating the main game and installing Iceborne, hunters will move onto a new “Master Rank” difficulty tier. Players who are at this stage can respond to requests from High Rank and Low Rank players, joining their session to lend a helping hand.
Naturally, with Master Rank hunters being decked out with superior weapons and armour sets, this should make things considerably easier and is also a useful way for newcomers and less experienced players to get some training. This system also works for High Rank hunters wanting to help out with Low Rank assignments.
It’s not uncommon for this to happen organically though Capcom is giving high ranking players an incentive for their participation. Extra rewards will be given out at the end of each quest including rare Wyverian Prints. The rarity of these items is said to depend on the difference in experience level between the helper and the hunter in need.
There are some cosmetic rewards up for grabs, too. Capcom revealed that “Pendants” are being added for Iceborne. These work in a similar way to trophies or achievements and will unlock after hitting certain in-game milestones, giving hunters cosmetic flares that attach to weapons.
It’s small features like these, as well as Iceborne’s wealth of exciting, challenging new content that makes the expansion a must have for fans of Monster Hunter: World. In our review, we scored it a near perfect nine out of ten. Here’s an excerpt:
Monster Hunter: World is deservedly Capcom’s most successful game to date, and the Iceborne expansion amplifies everything positive about it.
