NIS America has announced that it will be turning off the online servers for the JRPG Grand Kingdom, which means that the Wars portion of the game will not be accessible. The date of the server switch off will be October 1st with both the PS4 and Vita versions of the game being affected. Grand Kingdom originally released in Japan in 2015 before making its way to Western audiences in 2016. You can read the full statement by NIS America regarding the shut down below.
Thank you to all the fans who have enjoyed and supported Grand Kingdom for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation Vita. After nearly 4 years of continued support, we are ending online service for the Wars (Online) portion of Grand Kingdom.
This change is expected to be implemented October 1, 2019 at 0:00 (UTC+0). Offline play of the title will not be affected by this change. After that date, players will be unable to access servers for the “Wars” function of the main menu.
We would like to thank each and everyone one of our fans who set out for fortune and victory in the war-torn Resonail. Whichever of the Four Great Nations you represented, we hope that you’ll cherish the battles won and lost, and continue to enjoy the offline features of Grand Kingdom.
As you can see the offline side of Grand Kingdom will still be accessible. In our review of Grand Kingdom Miguel wrote:
Grand Kingdom is one of the most interesting things I’ve ever had on my Vita, combining so many ideas together and somehow making them all work. Like a weird looking dish at a foreign restaurant your cousin recommended, you might doubt it can be anything other than a huge mess, but once you get a taste of it, you’ll realize just how wrong you were.
