Check out the Destiny 2: Shadowfall launch trailer

This is the end, hold your breath and count to ten, feel the earth move and then, hear my heart burst again. For this is the end, I’ve drowned and dreamt this moment, so overdue I owe them, swept away, I’m stolen.

Let the Shadowfall, when it crumbles, we will stand tall, face it all together! Let the Shadowfall, when it crumbles, we will stand tall, face it all together! At Shadowfall…..

We are less than a week away from Destiny 2: Shadowfall, the next chapter in the game that will change how you play forever. Armour is being completely reworked, there are new finishing moves, a new raid, ‘new’ crucible maps (actually reworked versions from Destiny 1), and many other huge changes.

This is part of a shift in the game’s business model, as Bungie have cut ties with publisher Activision earlier this year. Shadowkeep is a paid expansion, as usual, but will come with a Season Pass for Season of the Undying bundled into the £29.99 cost. Further seasons – and there will be four through the year this time around – will cost $10 or an equivalent in-game currency value each time. However, there will be a mixture of free and premium activities and rewards.

The Seasonal Artifact will be free for all players. The Gate Lord’s Eye will allow you to further customise your Guardian’s build through the season by unlocking mods, simply through spending XP earnt through playing. It’s a never-ending path as well with no cap to the XP you can feed into it, and is account-wide, meaning you can play with up to three characters and reap rewards across them all. However, the Artifact and its mods will all go away at the end of a season, to be replaced by a new Artifact, mods and path.

The Season Pass is a fairly standard battle pass model, with both a free and premium track of rewards through 100 levels. All you have to do is earn experience through completing bounties, doing strikes, completing weekly events, and this lets you rank up to earn specific cosmetic rewards, in-game currencies and randomised engrams unlocking as you rank up. Later in the season, you’ll be able to purchase ranks in order to catch up.

Everyone playing Shadowkeep on day one will be inducted into the premium version of Season of the Undying – if you buy later, you’ll automatically join whatever season is currently running when you load into the game. This means you get:

  • Season Pass owners get access to a new seasonal activity, the Vex Offensive, which includes:
    • Four Legendary Weapon drops
    • Additional weekly and daily bounties
    • Additional weekly challenges with powerful rewards
  • A new weapon quest for an Exotic Bow, Leviathan’s Breath
    • Exclusive to Season Pass owners
  • A new Exotic Hand Cannon, Eriana’s Vow
    • Awarded on Rank 35 of the free track
    • Awarded on Rank 1 of the premium track
  • Three seasonal Legendary armor sets (one for each class)
    • Collect a complete set during the first 25 ranks of the free track
      • NOTE: This is a change from the Annual Pass, where you were required to purchase gear from the Season.
    • On the premium track you get all three sets on Rank 1
    • These also drop within the Vex Offensive seasonal activity
      • If you want versions with higher stat tiers, you’ll need to play Vex Offensive to earn them
  • Some additional premium track rewards:
    • Three universal ornament armor sets (one for each class)
    • An Exotic weapon ornament for Eriana’s Vow
    • Two Legendary weapon ornaments
    • A new finisher
    • An Exotic emote
    • An Exotic ship
