Death Stranding Update 1.06 is now out but what does it do?

A new update for Death Standing has been rolled out and should be available for all players to download right now. It’s relatively small and clocks in at just over 1GB so what does it do? Well…

  • Optimized network functionality
  • Various performance improvements.

Exciting, huh? The previous update for the game, version 1.05 has a single bullet point in its patch notes:

  • Various performance improvements

This follows on from the day one update that dropped alongside the game’s launch which was version 1.04. That had much more extensive notes:

  • Various performance improvements
  • Multiple problems fixed

It seems Kojima really isn’t keen on detailed patch notes.

If you are playing right now you will be kicked from the game and you won’t be able to log back in until you have installed the updated. However, some people are reporting that they are having problems updating the game but multiple tries seems to wok.

Unable to update game? from DeathStranding

“Took me about 10 retries but it eventually started to download. To those who are experiencing errors — keep retrying!” says one post on Reddit, “Worked on the fifth try,” reports another player.

Death Stranding proved to divisive when it was reviewed with some people absolutely loving it – including me – and some people hating it. Everyone I have spoken to who has been playing the game has absolutely loved it.

The game is currently exclusive to PlayStation 4 but will be heading to PC next year pre-orders now live on Steam and  a page on the Epic Games Store has also appeared. Available for £54.99 via both popular game vendors, Hideo Kojima’s barmy new release is pegged for a “Summer 2020” launch. The official store pages don’t give much else away, confirming earlier reports that the PC version will be published by 505 Games (Control, Indivisible).
