Back in October Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment revealed a brand new VR game based on The Walking Dead franchise. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is a story-based VR title set several years after the outbreak of the zombie virus, and places players in New Orleans where the zombie horde shows no sign of falling apart. As a survivor, your role is to navigate the streets of New Orleans to kill zombies and help people. You could hurt them as well by the looks of the trailer.
The gameplay trailer shows various instances of gameplay with players wielding both guns and melee weapons. The way zombies react to weapons will differ from how people do. For example, in the trailer you see a zombie get stabbed in the stomach but it keeps coming but one getting stabbed in the head will fall. There are going to be moments of horror as witnessed by creeping around a dark house as well as tons of actions as players fight back against the horde. It also looks like players will have to make some choices along the way, including life and death judgments over other survivors.
The description of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners says the following:
Crafting, exploration, freedom of choice and visceral combat make this a deep, 15+ hour game built for VR. Uncover its many secrets and cut down both the dead and the living with an arsenal of melee, ranged and makeshift weapons, all physics-based objects you can realistically wield. Scale the side of a building to ambush enemies from above, hold down a walker’s head to rip your knife out of its skull or just convince some fools to take a bullet for you. Discover new, horrifying ways to survive and pursue your goals, then face the consequences.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners has been confirmed for the main PC based VR headsets like Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, with the game set to release on January 23rd. PSVR and Oculus Quest versions are expected later in 2020.
