Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s character progression system explained in new video

Bandai Namco has released a new information video for its upcoming action RPG Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and this one explains how character progression works in the world. The most obvious way is through gaining experience in battles to level up characters but there are other ways. One of those ways is eating which grants both temporary buffs and permanent stat increases. Food can be found all over the world or you can cook your own with recipes gained from talking to other characters as well as completing quests.

To get super attacks exploring the world and getting Z orbs is the way to go and there are different coloured orbs to get. These can be used to unlock or power-up skills, though certain skills can only be acquired at training grounds, though these challenges have to be unlocked using D medals found around the world. The final way to upgrade is through the Community Board. As you complete main and sub-quests for characters you’ll earn medals of them that can be placed on the boards. These boards then provide different boosts and benefits.

Most importantly, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is just pretty fun. The combat and the sensational battles are where it’s really at, and there’s enough variety through this as it faithfully retells the Dragon Ball Z story. For fans of the anime, this is one to keep an eye on when it releases in January.

You can read the full Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot preview here, and that provides more details on the progression systems. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be available on January 17th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
