Bandai Namco have got their year off to a good start, with anime video game retelling Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot topping the UK charts in its launch week, shoving FIFA 20 to one side in the process.
However, it was also a week where a number of 3DS games were able to storm the charts as Argos flogged Yo-Kai Watch, the two versions of Yo-Kai Watch 2 and WarioWare Gold for £2.49, £3.49 and £5.99 respectively. With prices like that, and WarioWare’s matched by Amazon, it’s no surprise that they were flying off the shelves, but when that helps propel WarioWare and Yo-Kai Watch into the top ten, with the two versions of Yo-Kai Watch 2 camped just outside, it’s a symptom of a typically slow January week. Not that Nintendo will care when it means that 5 of the top 10 and 12 of the top 20 games are exclusives to their platforms!
The other new game release of the week was Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore for Nintendo Switch, a port of the under-appreciated Wii U JRPG. As a bit of a niche title and a re-release, it was kept just outside the top ten in 11th place.
