Need For Speed Heat January update will add racing wheel support

Ghost Games has announced what Need for Speed Heat players can expect with the January update, which is set to be released on January 28th. The big addition is the support for racing wheels. Ghost Games has done some tests but not checked out every single wheel on the market, so you’ll have to check for yourselves to see if your one is compatible if you don’t own one of the following.

  • Thrustmaster T300RS (PS4, PC)
  • Thrustmaster TX (Xbox, PC)
  • Thrustmaster T150 (PS4, PC)
  • Thrustmaster TMX (Xbox, PC)
  • Logitech G29 (PS4, PC)
  • Logitech G920 (Xbox, PC)
  • Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel (PS4, PC, XB1)

Another thing that Ghost Games is going to make available is something called the Keys to the Map. This will reveal every single thing on the game’s map including the collectibles, activities, and gas stations. It will also give access to all safehouses bar one.  The catch? You’re going to have to pay real money to get these keys. Or, as this is the internet, check out one of the many maps people have posted online that shows where everything is.

A chat wheel will also be added so you can send people pre-written messages that can be used as a regular greeting or for challenging people to races. If you’re feeling really nice you can compliment them too. There will be some fixes and improvements too. Driving through gas stations will remove scratches and clean the paint damage. Inputs will also change so you’ll have to hold down a button to confirm an action instead of a quick press. The full list of changes will be released around the release of the update.

Need for Speed Heat is the best the series has been in a while. It’s not perfect by any stretch, but it has a charm that reminds me of the Underground days of old. Now that’s a NfS game I can get down with.

  1. It’s not a game I would use a wheel, but that’s just me.
I wish they would add a online lobby or something where you can find folk who want to race. Every time I’ve gone online with a random ‘crew’ very few want to race, I’m constantly having to go offline/online to try and find someone to race. I wouldn’t normally be bothered but I only need the trophy for completing 25 online races for the platinum.
