There’s tentacles, Star Wars, motorbikes and more on the way for Xbox Live Gold subscribers in February, as the four games making up next month’s Games with Gold have been revealed.
As always there’s two Xbox One games and two backward compatible Xbox games included. Leading the way on Xbox One is the motorbike racing of TT Isle of Man, which is being followed up by the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired Call of Cthulhu.
You can catch our review of Call of Cthulhu, where Steve said, “What it does do well, is capture the feel of a Lovecraft story. Fans of the mythos, or the tabletop RPG this game is loosely based on, will find much about the atmosphere and setting to enjoy, and the narrative builds to a climax that is more effective than many of the original stories. You do have to be prepared to get through a lot of mediocrity to get to this and many players will justifiably conclude that there are too many other better games with which to pass their time. You don’t have to be mad to play this, but you may end up disappointed.”
Oh well… There’s more excitement in the backward compatible games, with the four player hack ‘n’ slash fun of Fable Heroes, before stepping back to an all time great in the original Star Wars Battlefront from the original Xbox. Sadly you won’t be able to experience the original’s online multiplayer, but you still have tons of battles from the first six Star Wars films to enjoy as you battle for the Empire or the Rebellion.
Here’s those games and their availability.
- TT Isle of Man – 1st Feb to 29th Feb
- Call of Cthulhu – 16th Feb to 15th Mar
- Fable Heroes – 1st Feb to 15th Feb
- Star Wars Battlefront – 16th Feb to 29th Feb
And remember, there’s still a bit of time to pick up these three game’s from January’s selection:
- Styx: Shards of Darkness – until Jan 31st
- Batman: The Telltale Series – until Feb 15th
- LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy – until Jan 31st
So, anything tickling your fancy?
