UK Charts 28/02/20 – Two Point Hospital debuts in second place

Breaking up the entirely predictable battle between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and FIFA 20 this week was the launch of Two Point Hospital on console. This spiritual sequel to the classic Theme Hospital didn’t claim the top spot – that went back to Call of Duty – but instead slotted into a much more appropriate second place, given the game’s name.

Of course, this is all about the UK retail sales of the games – GamesIndustry.biz will hopefully be publishing the results with some digital sales factored in this week – but there was a fascinating split in console preference. 55% of boxed sales came on Nintendo Switch, while 34% were on PS4 and just 12% on Xbox One. It’s a good thing that the Switch version holds up as well as it does!

The only other new release to chart was Rune Factory 4 Special, also on Nintendo Switch, coming in at 17th, while we saw discount pricing help some games jump up as others slid. Dreams is clinging on in the top 20 in 19th, Hunt: Showdown has dropped 46% to settle in 40th, and the double pack of Vanquish and Bayonetta has simply fallen out of the top 40 completely.

Meanwhile The Division 2 and Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled all managed to leap back into the top 10.
