Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall out now on iOS

It’s been almost a year since the divisive Game of Thrones finale and now here we are in 2020 about to go hands on with a new video game adaptation.

Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall is out now on iPhone and iPad, turning the epic HBO television series into a strategic turn-based battle RPG. An Android version will launch on April 3rd.

The game weighs in at 1.4GB and requires iOS 9.0 of later in order to run it on your phone or tablet. In terms of device compatibility you’ll need an iPhone 5S/iPad Mini 2 or newer.

Beyond the Wall’s microtransactions have also been revealed. In-app purchases range between £0.99 and £99.99, offering players Gold currency or special item bundles.

As the name suggests, this latest video game adaptation based on the smash hit HBO series will take players into the far north where Wildlings and the White Walkers call home. Beyond the Wall features an original story that weaves together the tales of familiar heroes and villains while also introducing a cast of original characters:

48 years before the events of the Game of Thrones TV show, Lord Commander Brynden Rivers, better known as “Bloodraven”, disappeared while ranging beyond the Wall. Now it’s your turn to take command of the Night’s Watch.

As previously mentioned, this is a turn-based RPG though there are plenty of familiar mobile game trappings orbiting the squad-based battle system.

You’ll be tasked with recruiting members for the Night’s Watch, steadily collecting more and more exotic fighters to join your ranks among the common scoundrels sent to the wall. There’s a chance to unlock hero characters too including Jon Snow, Daenerys, Jaime Lannister, Melisandre, and Tormund just to name a few.

Organising ranging parties and building up your base of operations will also keep you occupied as you unravel the mysteries of the Three-Eyed Raven and get to grips with the game’s tactical grid-based combat.
