Predator: Hunting Grounds beta times and gameplay details revealed

Get those shoulder mounted rocket launchers primed. The Predator: Hunting Grounds beta weekend is almost here and the game’s developer, Illfonic, has shared some more details about what to expect.

If this is your first time stumbling upon Hunting Grounds then there are some basics you need to wrap your head around. This is an asymmetrical multiplayer game much like Dead By Daylight, the upcoming Resistance Evil: Project Resistance, or Illfonic’s own Friday the 13th: The Video Game.

Of course, not everyone in a match will play as the Predator. Instead, rounds are fought between an elite Fireteam of soldiers and one Predator, all five controlled by players.

Hunting Grounds will feature four soldier classes with three of them available to try out this weekend. They are the all-rounder Assault class, the highly mobile Scout, and the damage soaking Support.

As a Fireteam it’s your job to complete a randomly assigned object which will typically have you gunning down waves of AI grunts. Meanwhile, a Predator will be stalking the map and collecting trophies.

Inevitably the two sides will clash and although the Predator is much stronger and more dynamic on paper, a well organised Fireteam can easily wiped them out if they get too reckless.

Hunting Grounds will feature three different flavours of Predator, each with their own weapons and abilities fans of the horror film franchise will immediately recognise.

The Predator beta weekend kicks off this Friday on both PlayStation 4 and PC (via the Epic Games Store). The trial will be available to download on March 27 in Japan at 3pm JST, in Europe at 4pm GMT, and in North America at 5pm PST / 8pm EST. You will need an active PlayStation Plus membership to access the trial on PS4.

Predator: Hunting will launch next month on April 24th.
